The <\/strong>Downtown Community Safety Partnership<\/a> (DCSP) is a collaborative initiative between the Province of Manitoba, City of Winnipeg, Downtown Winnipeg BIZ, Winnipeg Police Service, and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, and True North Sports & Entertainment.<\/p>\n

The Downtown Community Safety Partnership<\/a><\/a> (DCSP) is a made-in-Winnipeg approach to creating a safer and more welcoming downtown through the availability of cohesive support and non-emergency response to those in the community in need of support and assistance. They're committed to being a proactive downtown presence, providing prevention and outreach focused on long-term solutions, and delivering a continuum of care that will help to effect significant change for individuals and the entire downtown community. Whether workers, businesses, residents, students, visitors, or tourists, the DSCP<\/a> will actively engage with members of the downtown community on a daily basis to open lines of communication, build connections and improve awareness.<\/p>\n

The Downtown Community Safety Partnership (DCSP) has launched its safety app<\/a> to augment the partnership’s existing community safety initiatives and enhance the well-being for any community member while in the downtown area. It's a collaborative organization working together with the City of Winnipeg and teaming up with other organizations<\/a> to create a safe downtown environment for all who live, work, and visit. The app features resources to enhance personal safety for any community member while in the downtown Winnipeg area.<\/p>\n

\nThe downtown safety app includes resources to help you stay safe and connected within the downtown area. It features:<\/strong>
\n <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Safety contact numbers for various downtown organizations.
    \n\t <\/li>\n
  2. Social Service contact numbers.
    \n\t <\/li>\n
  3. Links to request courtesy\/safe walks, location identification services, and maps and guides to help navigate downtown services and amenities.
    \n\t <\/li>\n
  4. A highlighted feature is the “Friend Walk” which allows you to send your location to a friend so they can track your movement in real-time as you walk to your destination. If required, a “panic” button can be activated, which notifies your friend and starts an emergency call.
    \n\t <\/li>\n
  5. Community members can also connect directly with 211 Manitoba through this app if they require assistance with non-emergency community concerns such as an individual requiring connections to resources or a wellness check.

  6. You can play a role in promoting safety by reporting your concern using the DCSP app.
    \n\t <\/li>\n
  7. An Emergency Readiness section that provides tips, action guidelines, and\/or steps that can be taken to help guide calm and effective emergency response.
