Some milestones represent more than a single moment.<\/p>\n

On August 20, 2026, Thorwin Properties gathered with employees, project partners, community representatives and residents for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 65 Kirkbridge Drive in Fort Richmond.<\/p>\n

The ceremony marked the completion of Thorwin’s newest purpose-built rental community. More importantly, it celebrated the building’s transition from a development project into a place people now call home.<\/p>\n

For Kris Thorkelson, President and Owner of Thorwin Properties, the occasion also represented another step in the continued evolution of a Winnipeg company that is growing, adapting and investing in the communities it serves.<\/p>\n

A milestone years in the making<\/h2>\n
Located near Pembina Highway, the University of Manitoba and Victoria General Hospital, 65 Kirkbridge Drive<\/a> is a seven-storey, 78-suite rental community.<\/p>\n
However, the ribbon-cutting was not simply about the completed building. It was an opportunity to recognize the years of planning, collaboration and problem-solving required to bring the project to life.<\/p>\n
Developments of this scale depend on many people working toward a shared goal. From planning and construction to leasing, operations and marketing, each team played a role in moving 65 Kirkbridge from an idea to an active residential community.<\/p>\n
The event brought many of those contributors together in one place to reflect on what had been accomplished.<\/p>\n

Celebrating the people behind the project<\/h2>\n
Thorwin employees and project partners were joined by Councillor Janice Lukes and Jennifer Chen, MLA for Fort Richmond, to mark the occasion.<\/p>\n
Opening remarks were followed by the official ribbon cutting, group photos, conversations and tours of the building. The celebration provided an opportunity for the people behind the project to reconnect and see the result of their collective work.<\/p>\n
For Thorwin, recognizing those contributions was an important part of the day. A new rental community is never created by one person or department. It requires cooperation between employees, contractors, partners, local representatives and the surrounding community.<\/p>\n
The ribbon-cutting celebrated the building, but it also celebrated everyone who helped make it possible.<\/p>\n

While one milestone is physical and the other digital, both reflect the same direction: continuing to improve how Thorwin serves Winnipeg renters and residents.<\/p>\n
Growth is not only about becoming larger. It is also about learning, adapting and finding better ways to support people, from their first apartment search to their everyday experience as residents.<\/p>\n
