Seeing the continued rising costs of prescription medication, Kris also founded Canada Drugs in 2001, an international online pharmacy based in Winnipeg. Canada Drugs helped millions of patients from around the world gain access to the most competitive prices on the best brand and generic medicines from Canada and around the world.
Kris attended the University of Manitoba from 1986 to 1996, receiving a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology Major) and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. From 2004 to 2006 and 2008 to 2010, Kris served as a counselor for the Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association (now named the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba).
Kris and Maryanne are family-focused and have 4 daughters. He and his wife Maryanne enjoy spending time with them at their cottage or traveling the world.

In 2006, Kris Thorkelson donated $500,000 to the University of Manitoba’s pharmacy program, which named a laboratory after him. Kris is also an active supporter of the Winnipeg Humane Society, and the Main Street Project, among other organizations.
