President

Kris Thorkelson is proud to be the owner of Thorwin Properties and is focused on helping to improve the City of Winnipeg one apartment building at a time. Kris shares Thorwin Properties' vision of leading the industry by providing quality apartments that people can be proud to call home. Thorwin Properties has built partnerships with many local businesses to help maintain and improve our buildings within the community and aim at keeping our tenants happy. We have also partnered with Bell MTS to offer preferential pricing and expedited services at a discounted rate. Outside of his work at Thorwin Properties, Kris is a Winnipeg-based entrepreneur who owns a chain of retail pharmacies in the city. He is the owner of The Prescription Shop, which has three retail outlets in Winnipeg. He also owns two medical clinics that are attached to his pharmacies. He has been a licensed pharmacist since 1991. Seeing the continued rising costs of prescription medication, Kris also founded Canada Drugs in 2001, an international online pharmacy based in Winnipeg. Canada Drugs helped millions of patients from around the world gain access to the most competitive prices on the best brand and generic medicines from Canada and around the world. Kris attended the University of Manitoba from 1986 to 1996, receiving a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology Major) and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. From 2004 to 2006 and 2008 to 2010, Kris served as a counselor for the Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association. Kris is family-focused and has 4 daughters. He enjoys watching them in their sports and spending time with them at their cottage or traveling the world. What is Kris Thorkelson’s leadership philosophy? As the owner of Thorwin Properties, Kris Thorkelson knows the importance of building a talented team of professionals to help him run the day-to-day operations of the business. He also makes sure that the community is a focus in order to build trust and a strong network within Winnipeg. He takes a hands-on approach with his team, which sets the tone and attitude of those who work with him. How is Thorwin Properties different from other property management companies in Winnipeg? My Place Realty sets the bar higher by being an active and positive force within both the industry and the communities where it does business. The company is focused on providing quality homes with a mix of modern and heritage styles and strives for excellence in purchasing, renovating, customer service, and proactively leasing multi-family homes. In what ways has Kris Thorkelson been involved in giving back to the community? In 2006, Kris Thorkelson donated $500,000 to the University of Manitoba’s pharmacy program, which named a laboratory after him. Kris is also an active supporter of Agape Table, Canadian Lutheran World Relief, and the Winnipeg Humane Society, and the Main Street Project, among other organizations. What is Kris Thorkelson’s philosophy when it comes to providing customer service? Kris Thorkelson has spent the majority of his career trying to help people access the goods and services that they need. Kris truly enjoys the feeling of making a positive difference and believes that while making a profit is crucial for any business, making a difference is equally as important.

Tom Haughton serves as the Vice President of Thorwin Properties and has helped lead the group of companies since 2012. Along with my senior management team, we actively strive to live our Mission of providing quality multi-family homes that people are proud to call home. We actively live our Core Values to set an example for our employees and help build a better company. They include Respect, Accountability, Forward-Thinking, and One team! Tom has extensive experience and skills in human resources, business operations, coaching and development, customer service, procurement, data processing, sales and marketing, business development, and finance. He has worked steadily in a management and supervisory capacity since 1997. In 1996, Tom earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba, graduating with Honors. He continues his personal growth by engaging in coaching, self-improvement seminars, reading, and is always focused on developing new skills. Outside of work, Tom is actively involved with his young family and dedicating the majority of his time to his 3 children. He also proudly supports the Winnipeg Humane Society, Lighthouse Mission, Agape Table, the Canadian Cancer Society, World Vision as well as many other charities.

The Property Division General Manager at Thorwin Properties, she brings to the company more than 30 years of property management experience. As the GM, she motivates and leads a team of Property Managers, Assistant Property Managers, Leasing Agents, and Administrative Professionals. As a coach and mentor, she focuses on results, elevating customer satisfaction levels, meeting the resident's needs, and exceeding those expectations whenever possible. Susan has her beloved family dog, Titan (aka Boss Dog) who stops by the office. All of Thorwin Properties are pet-friendly, as well as the head office.
